Getting Ready For Summer
Be sure to backup items on your desktop to Google Drive. Computers are being reimaged this summer, replaced, or some folks are moving classrooms and your computer doesn’t move with you. Don’t lose your files. Save them in Google Drive!
All you have to do is open up your Google Drive, minimize the window a little bit, and drag over any file icons saved on your desktop. This makes a copy in your Drive. You can then drag the icon on your desktop to the trashcan on the desktop.
If you need the file in Drive back you can open it in any format so even if it is a PDF or a Word Doc you can still download it from your Drive, open in Microsoft, and preserve the formatting.
If you have a lot of files start this process now.
1. Return student work in Google Classroom - this critical step will prevent your Google Drive account from becoming a dumping ground for old student work by transferring document ownership back to your students.
2. Archive your course - When all of your grading is complete, archive your course to prevent students from sending messages or turning in missing work. Don't worry, you can still access all of your course resources for next year!
3. Tidy up your inbox - archive those old messages and organize your labels. You'll be grateful in the fall! Turn on your "out of office" response and head to the beach!
4. Create an "archive" folder in Google Drive - Spend a few minutes getting rid of files you aren't using any more by putting them into an "archive" folder.
5. Get rid of your old Classroom calendars - Don't lose control of your calendar! Check out this helpful resource from Alice Keeler to speed up the process!
